We present a fragment of a Roman sculpture representing a winged child figure. This is a representation of Eros, which, due to its small size, must have been part of a group with at least another larger figure, perhaps Venus.
2015
In this paper we analyze a female white marble sculpture recovered in 2007 in an excavation in the Roman necropolis of La Boatella (Valencia). It is split into three fragments found in a half-built pit with several funerary inscriptions and other architectural elements. The sphere that remains on your right, on which rests the rudder missing attribute allows identifying it with the goddess Fortune. The sculpture is of a type that is dated in the late Hellenistic period and should be used for the representation of various divinities, including Hygeia, goddess of health, and specifically the Chiaramonti variant. The position of the arms allowed to adapt the type, with very slight modification…

This paper deals with the first archaeological excavations made in the Valencian country during the 18th century, aiming to discover the ruins of monuments from the Classical Antiquity and recover pieces of artistic value to enrich private collections. These works were developed in some Roman towns, as they were Saguntum, Ilici and Lucentum, and villages such as El Vilar (El Puig) and Els Banys de la Reina (Calp). Phoenician maritime pioneering and Punic expansion: reconstructing trade and dietary patterns
2015
Perhaps the most significant legacy attributed to the Phoenicians was their mastery of the seas, which led them to establish the first grand commercial Mediterranean network, expanding from Lebanon to beyond the Pillars of Hercules between the 8th and 6th centuries BC. The Punic culture, which flourished in the central and western Mediterranean from Phoenician colonies, maintained the exceptional navigation skills of the Phoenicians, but developed into more settled and structured territories that allowed the communities to intensify their exploitation of Mediterranean resources. Their rise to prominence can be measured by the threat they posed to the Roman Republic, while the salvage of the…

2010
